Richard Byrd and crew on the Reel Deal, our 48-foot Viking, for a private day chasing what’s biting off Palm Beach. We bring the tackle, the local knowledge, and 34 years of guiding experience. The byrd dog
Ours is Ellie May. She’s our boat dog, unofficial welcoming committee, and a regular mention in guest reviews. Richard handles the fishing. Ellie handles being everyone’s favourite crew member.

Trips & rates
Every trip is private, with room for up to 6 guests. We provide the fishing gear, bait and ice, cover your fishing licence, and clean your catch back at the dock. Live bait is an additional $120 when needed. Pick how long you’d like to be out. We’ll help with the rest.
Prices are for the boat, up to 6 people. Live bait, when the day calls for it, is an additional $120.
The boat
A 48-foot Viking with room to fish, room to relax, and air conditioning when you’ve had enough Florida sun.
Rebuilt in 2020, the Reel Deal has a fishing cockpit equipped with outriggers, downriggers, and a fighting chair. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable salon and a private bathroom. You’ll probably spend most of your time watching the rods. But it’s nice to have somewhere comfortable to sit between bites.
The marina
Your day starts on Singer Island, a short run from the Palm Beach Inlet.
We leave from Sailfish Marina at 98 Lake Drive, Palm Beach Shores, FL 33404. Back at the dock, we’ll clean your catch while you decide which part of the day you’ll be talking about over dinner. Open 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.
The captain
Richard has spent his life fishing Florida waters and 34 years helping other people enjoy them. He started guiding for freshwater bass, moved into inshore saltwater fishing, and eventually headed offshore. These days, you’ll find him at the helm of the Reel Deal.
New to fishing? He’ll walk you through it. Been doing this for years? You’ll have plenty to talk about. And if you want a good fish story, ask him about the 800-pound black marlin he caught in Costa Rica.
